About
Classics on the Green was started by two friends who wanted to share their love of cars and build a community of wonderful people and cars - to keep the automotive spirit alive.
We have an eclectic taste in cars and see all the good! Our love of motorsport makes our car meetings a little different with historic race cars playing a big part.
Our first meeting featured a 1962 McLaren M1B CAN AM race car and a Lola Formula 5000 race car. These cars are regularly seen racing at Goodwood Revival and winning!
We raise funds for our chosen charity as well as for local causes. We are a not for profit organisation and are self funded through our sponsors and ticket sales. This year’s charity - Wings for Life.
Our main charity event in June raised - £1,175 for Wings for Life - £525 for local causes. 2024

Who we are
Tim Wilmer
I have been involved with Racing, my whole life, my father raced an MGTA for 40 years from the early 60s. Growing up near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, I started my career at Lola Cars as an apprentice in the late 1980s
In 1991 I went to work for Paul Stewart racing, the team set up by SirJackie Stewart and his son Paul, I did two seasons of formula three, winning, the 1992 British formula 3 championship as mechanic on Gil De Ferrans car. After this, I had a couple of years working in historic motorsport working on Coopers, GT 40’s, sports, cars and historic F1’s such as the Williams, FW07.
In 1995, back to Paul Stewart Racing for a season of formula 3000 as mechanic on Alan McNish’s Reynard, finishing 2nd in that year’s championship.
Then followed 20 years in formula 1 , working for teams, such as Williams, Stewart Grand Prix, Arrows Grand Prix, Jaguar racing, Red Bull racing and finally Caterham F1.
I now run my own company Lexham engineering, preparing historic race cars and restoring classic cars.

My love of cars started with Mk2 Golf GTi’s aged 8 and this healthy obsession remains some thirty years on. It has remained a constant in my life and after taking a girlfriend to a VW car show called Edition 38 in 2004, I knew she was the one, now celebrating our ten-year wedding anniversary in 2022.
From GTi’s to Porsche 911’s to Range Rovers - they all played a large part in my car evolution. Riding shot gun in a friend of my father’s 911 964 got me completely hooked then onto getting my fathers Range Rover stuck on Morston Marsh with the tide edging ever closer – not my finest hour.
My career has been in property and born into a family property business I knew that if I worked hard, I could hope to afford the cars I lusted after.
Regular trips to Goodwood, racetracks and too many car shows, meeting amazing people and I wanted to bring my love of cars to Great Massingham and beyond.
